This is a higher resolution and larger version of the main image being used for illustrative purposes. The statistics here are-

550 x 398 pixels, 24 bit RGB color, 642k in memory and 50k on disk (12:1 compression) - total pixel count is 218,900 and original resolution 240.  Format
progressive .JPG, with YUV 4,4,4 subsampling algorithm.

Higher resolution version

This picture, although compressed almost as much as the small version, has the advantage of containing 7.5 times as many pixels, or "information dots" - and so is showing much more detail. The figure of 7.5 would also equate to the increase in file size over the small one, had we compressed 15:1 - showing the relationship between pixels and file size.

The original I should point out was a mere 6 x 4 print which had to be scanned and so resolution was not all that good, compared with a high resolution digital original.
